The Imaginarium structure was designed and built in collaboration with Michael Turri in 2.5 weeks for under $2000. At that time we had no allotment of space for the project, so simplicity, cost-effectiveness and portability of the design were paramount. In the end we arrived at a highly modular design that could be broken down to component pieces quickly and easily, using common fasteners and no special tools. It features a 16′ diameter raised platform enclosed by an 18′ diameter geodesic dome. The dome itself is made from regular corrugated cardboard (treated with flame retardant) and fastened with regular staples. All parts were manufactured and assembled by hand.
